PPG Paint Color of the Year Brings Natural Elegance

Color can evoke an emotion or a mood that sets the stage for the design direction of an entire space. When Staff Carpet in Springfield, IL, saw the PPG Paint Color of the Year for 2019, Night Watch, we were inspired by the rich green color. We see so many gorgeous homes in the Springfield area, and our design experts are noticing the shift to homeowners using more bold, saturated colors in interior design. Staff Carpet is seeing Night Watch and similar saturated colors on kitchen cabinets, in living rooms, and even on home exteriors.

According to PPG Paints, “Night Watch emulates the feeling of lush greenery and the healing power of nature.” While Night Watch might seem like a bold color choice, there is also something quiet and relaxing about the beautiful color. PPG Paints explains that Night Watch brings a serenity only found in nature to your space, which is needed in our fast-paced and technology-obsessed world. Night Watch not only brings the outside in, but it instantly elevates the style of the space—and looks great with trending brushed brass light fixtures and hardware.

So, how do you pull together an entire room using a darker color pallet with hues like Night Watch taking center stage? The design team at Staff Carpet recommends selecting more neutral and light flooring choices to contrast with rich colors – and not compete. Consider Anderson Hardwood’s Kensington in Holland Park, a distressed engineered hardwood in White Oak with stylish grey undertones. For a more traditional look, check out Jubilee Castle in Antique Gold from Shaw Floors. To add comfort to the space, check out our online Rug Shop with easy online ordering. We’re loving the brand new Madcap Cottage Collection.
